What foreign languages do K-pop artists learn? Can they learn by themselves or they have to have special teachers? How it is in your situation? How many and what languages do you speak? (Even if you can just few words)

The foreign languages for K-pop artists mostly will choose the Japanese, Chinese and English. In my situation I learned from my work and friends. I could speak 2 languages include Japanese and Chinese, a bit of Spanish and English, oh! If you count Korean is well, there are 5 at least?

Does your fan club have a special name? If doesn’t – can you tell us/me how do you call you fans as a solo artist of course.

My fan club is named「KAZOKU」 which means family in Japanese, because I take my fans as my family.

Would you tell us which artist, excluding Park Jung Min, Romeo and SS501, do you respect the most?

I do respect them all; I cannot prefer which the most like. They are having different fascination and meaning to me.

Why did you decide to do the tour in Europe? Do you have any fears because of your European concerts?
I know I have a lot of fans from Europe, when I read through my twitter. I always wanted to have concerts in Europe, so I am glad that I finally could have opportunity to meet my fans here. Of cause I do feel nervous, but now it’s turn to be excited and really looking forward to it.

How do you feel about your first concert/concerts in Europe? Are there any differences between the energy of European fans and your fans from Asia? And with this knowledge, would you like to come back here after this tour?

I think fans around the world, they are nothing differences between; they all give me same love and supports to encourage me. I definitely would like to come back again after this tour.

Have you ever heard about Poland? What do you know about this country?

Yes, I have heard about Poland, but not much knowledge about this country, I know many fans live there, wish I could go to visit soon in the near future.

If you can change one thing in your life, what would it be?

I am happy with my life, there is nothing need to be change.

And the last question – can you send some Greetings for Polish fans?

Happy New Year to You in Poland, I am sorry that I can’t be there this time. But I promise I will go as soon as I can, please keep support me and I love you.

[News] Park Jung Min answers questions about life, acting, and his next musical release!

Credit:hellokpop

As SS501 member Park Jung Min embarks on his first ever European tour, hellokpop had the opportunity to ask the star some questions.

Called the ‘Reverso Tour’, Park Jung Min chose the name to reflect the two sides of his musical career. Lucky European fans who get to see him perform live will see the ‘…brightness of Park Jung Min and the darkness of ROMEO [his Japanese alter ego].’ Starting in Dortmund, Germany on January 31, Park will then move to Paris, France on February 2, and Moscow, Russia on February 3. There are already multiple fan projects surrounding his tour and to get more information, you can contact Bonjour Corée.

Crossover pianist Choi Soo Min will accompany Park for his tour as the opening act. Starting out as a boxer, Choi gave it up to accomplish his dream of becoming a pianist. Highly trained, Choi had to overcome a unique handicap gained from intense boxing training in order to play the piano softly. He now has his own style of playing Korean classical music.

Check out the Q&A with Park Jung Min below:

HKP: When is your next music release? Either album or new single.

I am planning to release a new album in April, Both in Japan and Korea.

HKP: If so, can you give us a bit of information on the kind of music fans should expect from you?

I am thinking to make different styles of music, but the concept is still a secret, please look forward to it.

HKP: What do you expect from your European fans? And what should they expect to see from you?

Actually I am still nervous to be in here, I wish fans in Europe could come to the concert, give me a warm welcome, it will make me less nervous and feel powerful on stage; I will do my best performance.

HKP: You were last in a musical in 2010. Can we expect to see more musical performances in the future?

I just finished one Musical which is called” Summer Snow” in last December. It will be nice if I have the opportunity to perform in a musical once a year in the future.

HKP: You’ve unfortunately had to cancel the London portion of your tour. Do you have a message for your UK fans? Will you be coming to the UK in the future?

I really regret that I couldn’t be in London this time, thank you for your love and supports in UK as always, I will definitely come to UK in the near future.

HKP: Are there plans for a bigger tour soon? There are other regions of Europe, let alone the rest of the world who would very much like to see you live.

I will focus on preparing my new albums first, other tours are on the planning schedule, please stay tuned.

HKP: Your last Korean TV appearance was in 2011. Are there any plans for a Korean drama or film role in the future?

Of course, there are movie shooting schedules already planned. Shall having good news to announce soon.

HKP: You turn 27 later this year. Where do you see yourself in five, maybe ten years? Still in the entertainment business?

After 5 or 10 years, I think I will still be in this entertainment industry, when I become a senior, I may open a management agency, to train up talented teenagers.

HKP: Finally, do you have a message for all your fans?

Hello, my European family, I will be there soon, can’t wait to see you all, let’s meet at the concert and enjoy the show together.

Title: Seoul Police Publicity Team welcomes from SS501, the solo who captures the hearts of females- Heo Young Saeng

The feeling from the first meeting is ” Wow~ Looks really young” ” Wow~ The face is really small” Sure enough, celebrities are like that. A different feel from what is shown on the television which showcases his exceptional charisma. “Looks very friendly?”  We were worried whether he would give us the answers we want to our questions.

Why did you want to be a volunteer police?
YS: According to the information, there was a publicity team in the volunteer police team. As I felt that I was able to exploit/showcase my talents, it became my ambition to join.

There seemed to be a lot of team members younger than you.
YS: Will not consider the age difference and look at everyone equally, thinking that the other party is my sunbae as well as my hyung. Will not have thoughts such as ‘the age is really small’ Baby face which makes people shocked.

Please give some skincare tips to the other members of the police force who are training under the scorching sun.
YS: I wouldn’t do any special skin management. I think that as long as you wash your face well, apply some moisturiser to prevent dryness, it is the best way skin management.

Do you often keep in contact with the SS501 members. Did they come and visit you. A sentence which you want to tell the members.
YS: We haven’t been able to contact each other ever since my enlistment…obviously they have not visited me…but they are queuing up to book an appointment to meet…^^ Hyun Joong ah~ Hyung Jun ah~Jung Min ah~ after finishing your activities handsomely, I also hope you will enlist handsomely! Must always be healthy~ Miss you guys!!!!!!!!!!

What are your thoughts after seeing Hyun Joong at the centre of the Hallyu Wave.
YS: Having the most activities among the SS501 members… must be really tired.. (Caption: For this segment to be more interesting, was waiting for some sacrifice; ; Ah… Really a sincere and friendly person…heard such words before right) Very handsome when working hard. also working as an actor now… I also wish to collaborate with Hyun Joong in a good production after I finish my national duties.

The difference between working as a group and as a solo artist.
YS: The difference in income..^^ And also the feelings of loneliness when travelling to and fro alone? Other than these, there’s not much difference.

Your image is a singer who plays soccer?
YS: Wish to become a singer which can sing and dance just like now.

Belong to the type that can capture the ladies hearts…your popularity amongst males pales in comparison…For someone in the police tactical unit who is able to accumulate male popularity, what is your personal charisma/ specialty?
YS: Specialty is high notes… Using my imitation of Kim Kyung Ho sunbae to show my powerful high notes to accumulate male popularity! ^^

What is your personal plan?
YS: Still a new recruit currently so I need to learn what the sunbaes are teaching. Hope I will be able to personally produce and act in a handsome programme.

Putting aside the differences in ranks, say something honest to your team members as a hyung.
YS: In the army, there’s no differences in seniority of hyungs or dongsaengs.. Everyone, as part of the Seoul Police Publicity Team, handsomely perform to let more people understand the Seoul Police Station!! (Caption: Also from here, able to say it out truthfully…”army” and “new recruit” are temporarily interchangeable. no matter what, must such words be used?)

There’s a lot of unanswered questions regarding army life. What are your thoughts towards these? Truthfully, I am clueless when thinking about discharge from national services. Will not think about discharge but only think about what will happen tomorrow, this way it would seem to be less difficult.

Have your thoughts regarding volunteer police changed afteer enlistment? ( Lifestyle, Feelings and Perceptions)
YS: There seems to be not much differences~ because everyone suffer and work hard…very realistic.. also, as a volunteer police, I feel very proud of myself!

Will you recommend others to become a volunteer police?
YS: Will recommend. There’s sufficient time for self improvement.. compared to others, this is closer to society…and can collect data/ information very quickly… would not be outdated even after discharge, so I recommend!

What is your army discharge date?
YS: 30 July 2015. ^^ (Caption: able to answer this segment truthfully…already mentioned earlier on^^ able to answer respectfully the discharge date under such provocative questions, the friendliness of team mate Heo Young Saeng…really can capture females’ hearts)

The battle of handsome actors and their dramas is about to begin! In a recent press conference, Kim Hyun Joong commented about his feelings on his KBS2TV drama, “Age of Feeling” competing against Kim Soo Hyun’s drama.

On January 9, KBS2TV’s “Age of Feeling” held a press conference, introducing the characters and plot. During the conference, Kim Hyun Joong was asked, “You are in the same agency as Kim Soo Hyun. Have you two discussed about your dramas?”

In response, the singer turned actor said, “Although I am in the same agency as Kim Soo Hyun, he is the popular icon. Also, Jun Ji Hyun is the original popular figure. Since my drama is competing against their drama, it is true that I feel burdened. I said to him to not be nervous, but I think both of us will be nervous while filming. However, our nervousness won’t change the dynamics. The viewers are the judge. I hope that both dramas will have a successful conclusion.”

Kim Hyun Joong will play a talented fighter in Shanghai who fights in order to earn money for his sister’s surgery fees. The drama, “Age of Feeling” takes place in 1930’s Shanghai, indicating that drama viewers can expect to see different cultural aspects.

In less than one month, Park Jung Min will hold his first European tour. The tour, organized by B7Klan, will stop in Dortmund, Paris and Moscow.  The pianist Choi Soo Min will also be part of this tour as the opening act of each show.

Ahead of these concerts, Park Jung Min answered KAvenyou’s question about his tour, his projects and his career. Read his answers below!

KAvenyou: You are holding four concerts in Europe -in London, Dortmund, Paris and then Moscow. Could you tell us more about this tour and about what you prepared for the European fans?

Park Jung Min: This is my first time to have concerts in Europe; I’m looking forward to it, but also feel very nervous. What are the fans expecting most from me? I have many thoughts (I think he means, I can’t stop thinking about it.) And I think I will sing more, and prepare some sort of surprise; you must come to the show to find out for yourself, I won’t tell any more, it’s still a secret.

K: From your music, we can sense that you have a romantic side. Paris is said to be the most romantic city in the world. How do you feel about performing in Europe, and particularly in Paris?

PJM: I feel excited about performing in Europe. And I was traveling alone during summer 2013 there in Paris, and I told myself that I have to come back to this lovely city one day. Now my dream is coming true, I’m really pleased to come to Paris again. I wish I could have spare time to discover Paris more, and could go to visit other cities in France as well.

K: It’s your very first European tour. What are you expecting the most and looking forward to regarding this event?

PJM: Fans! I really look forward to seeing my fans in Europe. Finally, we can have the opportunity to be face to face. Their support is always appreciated, and I think I won’t forget how enthusiastic they are.

K: Late 2012, you chose « Romeo » as your stage name to target the Japanese market. Back then, your label explained that this symbolizes your dark and fantastic side. Could you tell us how this character evolved, and why did you specifically choose this concept for your Japanese fans?

PJM: Although, ROMEO is starting from Japan, but this is not restrict to Japan only. Actually, I want people to know how I grew up those years, from IDOL Park Jung Min to ARTIST Park Jung Min. Of course; I know its might look like a role play, but the character I chose is part of the “real me”. Now is the time for fans to know that I can have many different appearances.

K: Rock, dance, ballads… You’ve proven that you can easily go from a music style to another one. Which one represents you the best, and which one would you like people to think about first when they talk about you?

PJM: Personally, I have no particular preference. The melody, lyrics, or what kind of message I want to convey and share~ this is the most important thing. This is what I care about when I choose a music style. I wish people could become happy when they hear my songs.

K: You also have an acting career, including in Taiwan or in Japan. Do you have any acting plans for 2014?

PJM: Yes, I just finished a musical and a movie shooting. I do have plans to do more acting activities in Korea and Japan in 2014.

K: In the drama Fondant Garden, you acted as someone who travels abroad and ends up having to make a living there. When touring, you are also visiting a lot of countries. Do you think you could live abroad on your own?

PJM: I think I could live abroad by myself for sure. I’ve had experiences in Japan and Taiwan for more than 6 months. I was there for movie and drama shootings. I think if I have a purpose, no matter  in which country, I could do it.

K: After almost 10 years as a celebrity, what kind of relationship do you have with your fans, and how did this relationship change throughout the years?

PJM: Fans are always my energy. I have a lot of fans who followed me from their teenage days until now. We grow up together; it makes me feel amazed. And my fans are always taking care of me, they really are like family to me, a huge precious family.

K: You use social network services a lot to communicate, and we noticed one thing: your optimistic attitude. You always seem to smile and you sound naturally optimistic despite the pressure of your job. How did you learn to focus on the bright side of things?

PJM: I do feel pressure, and I do feel strength sometimes. When I feel pressure, I will try to find out the reason and solve it. So I always forget it quickly, after a sleep, they are left behind already.

K: You are one of the Korean artists who initiated the Hallyu wave. Are you aware of being a pioneer, and do you know that you are one of the artists who created the history of K-Pop?

PJM: Thank you for your commendation. There are a lot of great artists from Korea, the Hallyu wave is made by everyone. But thank you for keeping your support and love towards me and SS501.

K: The Korean music market keeps growing. More and more young artists dream of having a career similar to yours. In a more general way and regardless of the country, what advice would you give to those who decide to start a career as a musician?

PJM: “Do your best and try hard” is the most important thing. And don’t think about singing as performance work, but singing is like sharing a message. Connecting people from heart to heart. Show as much passion on stage as much as you can, then you will certainly receive good luck.

K: Do you have any thoughts about managing other artists, like some of your seniors do?

PJM: Sure, I am interested in this field. I want to run a management agency someday, when I become a senior.

K: Quite often, when Korean artists perform in Europe, they have plans for a new album in a near future. Does your Europe tour indirectly announce an upcoming album?

PJM: I have released a drama OST recently. And have plan for both Park Jung Min and ROMEO this coming April in Japan. Then I’ll go back to Korea to prepare a new album for Park Jung Min? Maybe ROMEO?

Sightseeing in Seoul can work up an appetite. If you're on a budget and still hope to glimpse singer and "Boys Over Flower" star Kim Hyun Joong, you may want to visit one of the many branches of the Jaksal Chicken Restaurant. You may even see him washing dishes there as the restaurant was started by Kim Hyun Joong and a few of his elementary school friends. Jaksal Chicken Restaurant now has several Korean branches and now the first Japanese branch is in the works.

Why chicken?
According to his longtime friend and co-founder Chi Min Su, when he and Kim Hyun Joong were younger, they worked a lot of part time jobs in chicken restaurants and said that one day they would open a restaurant of their own. The friends have remained close and refer to each other as brothers. Even though he became famous, their bond remains strong.

The first branch of the chicken restaurant was opened in the neighborhood Kim Hyun Joong grew up in and the menu features his favorite dishes. Those dishes include Ddukbokki or rice cake stew, omoktang or fishcake soup and Mandutang, which is dumpling soup.

Among the branches, there is one in Ilsan that is managed by Kim Hyun Joong's parents. And while many celebrity restaurants rarely receive visits from their celebrity founders, the "Unbreakable" singer has more than once been seen dining at his restaurant and he was even snapped in the kitchen washing dishes. Not only can Kim Hyun Joong sing, dance and act, but he does dishes.

The restaurant is located at 171-9 Seokchan dong, Songpa in Seoul. You can take Subway Line 8 to the Seokchon Station, Exit 7. Go straight and turn right on the first side street. You will see the restaurant sign on your left.
